Oboist Omer-Itzhak Posti, recent winner of the ARD Competition and new member of the MDR Symphony Orchestra, was born in Israel in 2000 and began playing the soprano recorder at the age of six. Just two years later, at the age of eight, he began taking oboe lessons with Yael Zamir at the Israel Conservatory of Music. During his time at the Thelma Yellin High School of Arts, Posti studied in the class of Dudu Carmel.
For his bachelor's degree at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, he transferred to the class of Prof. David Walter and Prof. Jacques Tys in September 2019. Posti then became an academician with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, where he received lessons from Ramón Ortega, Emma Schied, Stefan Schilli, Henrik Wiese, Marco Postinghel, and other musicians from the BRSO.

During this time, Posti also worked as an oboist at the Bavarian State Opera. Since March 2025, he has been principal oboist in the MDR Symphony Orchestra.

He has also appeared as guest oboist with renowned orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the SWR Symphony Orchestra, Opera de Paris, the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Amsterdam Sinfonietta. The young oboist recently signed a contract with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra as deputy principal oboist. He has also attended masterclasses with Marcel Ponseele, Alexei Leonidovich Ogrintschuk, Ivan Podyomov, Mordechai Rechtman, and Klaus Thunemann. Posti is currently completing his master's degree at the University of Music and Theater in Leipzig under Prof. Nick Deutsch.

SEBASTIAN SCHMIDT unterrichtet seit 2013 als Professor für Violine an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.

Die Kammermusik bildet schon seit mehr als 30 Jahren den Schwerpunkt seiner musikalischen Arbeit. Als Primarius des Mandelring Quartetts gewann er im Laufe der Jahre die internationalen Wettbewerbe in München (ARD), Evian (Frankreich) und den Paolo-Borciani-Wettbewerb in Italien.

Seitdem führt ihn intensive Konzerttätigkeit in die Musikzentren weltweit. Neben zahlreichen Konzerten in ganz Europa reist das Quartett regelmäßig nach Nord- und Südamerika (New York, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Lima), Japan (Osaka, Tokyo), Asien und in den Nahen Osten. Darüber hinaus ist er gern gesehener Gast bei großen Festivals (Schleswig-Holstein, Salzburger Festspiele). Zahlreiche CDs wie Schubert- Brahms- und Schostakowitsch-Serien fanden ein hervorragendes Kritikerecho.

Als einer der ersten Schüler studierte Sebastian Schmidt bei Ulf Hoelscher an der Musikhochschule in Karlsruhe. Zuvor war er Jungstudent in Würzburg bei Max Speermann. Ein Stipendium des DAAD ermöglichte ihm einen Studienaufenthalt in Bloomington/Indiana (USA) bei Nelli Shkolnikova und Josef Gingold. Meisterkurse u.a. bei Yfrah Neaman (London) und Vladimir Landsman (Montréal) sowie zahlreiche Kammermusikkurse rundeten seine Ausbildung ab.
