Elliot Riley, a German saxophonist of American descent, was the alto saxophonist of the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet for 23 seasons (2001-2024). As a member of this world-renowned chamber music ensemble, he was at home in the world's great concert halls and in combination with countless orchestras and choirs.  
He has performed with various ensembles, including the Berlin Philharmonic, SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, American Composer's Orchestra, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne and Lés Siecles in Paris.       
As a soloist, Elliot Riley experienced a particular highlight: a tour with the New Lusatian Philharmonic Orchestra, located on the German-Polish border, with whom he performed Lars-Erik Larsson's Saxophone Concerto seven times. 
Elliot Riley is heavily involved in his various educational activities, including his previous RSQ-related projects such as the Raschèr Saxophone Academy and the Raschèr Baltic Academy! and spans activities outside of his time at the RSQ.  

 

Elliot Riley attaches great importance to passing on his wealth of musical experience to today's younger generation.  He has been a saxophone teacher at the St. Georgen-Furtwangen Youth Music School in the heart of the Black Forest since 2012.  Whether in the various masterclasses he gives as part of his chamber music activities around the world or when teaching at the music school, Elliot Riley always consistently adheres to his own personal pedagogical code:
‘Every single student is an artist in their own right, and that's how I treat them in my lessons.’
In this new chapter of his artistic career, Elliot Riley explores the soloistic possibilities of the saxophone, including new works composed especially for him.

He is one of the most sought-after conductors on the world market for gramophones. He began playing the violin at the age of four. He studied violin at the Prague Conservatory in the class of Prof Dana Vlachová. In the field of conducting, he graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
He has also attended a number of conducting masterclasses with Michael Tilson Thomas, Jorm Panula, Colin Metters, Jac van Steen, Gerd Albrecht, Achim Holub, Vladimir Kiradjev and Leonid Grin, among others.
At the age of 18 he founded the Quattro Chamber Orchestra and in 2019 the Wranitzky Kapelle, an orchestra of historical instruments with a focus on Viennese classical music.

He works with a number of major orchestras: New World Symphony, Ulster Orchestra, Wiener Concert-Verein Orchester, Das Kurpfälzische Kammerorchester Mannheim, London Classical Soloists, Sarajevska filharmonia, Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, Sinfonietta Cracovia, Košice State Philharmonic Orchestra, The Orchestra of the Swan, Berlin Camerata, Kammerphilharmonie Graz, National Orchestra of Moldova, Pärnu City Orchestra, Sinfonietta Bratislava and others. In the Czech Republic, he has worked with orchestras such as the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc and the Prague Orchestra. Prague Symphony Orchestra, Prague Chamber Orchestra, Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra Zlín, Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra České Budějovice, Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra, Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra, Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Mariánské Lázně, Prague City Orchestra and others. He is a guest at the most important festivals such as Smetana's Litomyšl, Prague Spring, Janáček May, Golden Prague International Television Festival, Music of Thousands - Mahler Jihlava and others. It is a sought-after partner of star singers such as Gabriela Beňačková, Thomas Hampson, Petr Nekoranec, Jiří Rajniš, Štefan Margita, Ivan Kusnjer, Andrea Kalivodová, Roman Janál and others. She works with soloists such as Gábor Boldoczki, Lina Tur Bonet, He also works with outstanding choirs: the Prague Philharmonic Choir, the Houston Symphony Chorus, the Kühn Choir Prague, the Martinů Voices, the BOSCH Choir Stuttgart and dozens of other choirs, and since 2019 he has been the permanent choirmaster of the Czech Boys' Choir Boni Pueri. 

With this ensemble he has performed a number of works of musical classicism by authors such as Leopold Hoffmann, Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf, Leopold Koželuh, Jan Václav Stamic and others. He regularly performs with the ensemble as part of the artistic residency at the Karlskirche in Vienna, at the most prestigious Czech and foreign festivals and has successfully led the choir on tours abroad to South Korea, China, Austria, Oman, Lebanon, Croatia, Bulgaria, the United Arab Emirates and other countries.
